Job Title: Yard Person
Location: Magherafelt
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (No weekend work)
Role Overview
A hands-on Yard Man is required to support the day-to-day running of a busy yard environment. This role involves maintaining organisation, ensuring stock is handled correctly, and supporting loading operations. The position suits someone practical, reliable, and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Keeping the yard clean, organised, and hazard-free at all times
- (removal of plastic covers, broken tiles/slates, repairing lath, general upkeep)
- Putting stock away accurately in designated locations
- Ensuring all bays are fully stocked and accessible
- Loading and unloading lorries and customer vehicles safely and efficiently
- Picking and preparing orders from picking tickets
- Ensuring all orders are wrapped, secured, and labelled correctly before dispatch
- Carrying out daily routine checks and yard duties
- Operating a forklift/combi lift (training provided)
- Assisting customers in the yard when required
- Supporting goods-in and goods-out processes
- Conducting basic stock checks and reporting discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures at all times
- Assisting with general maintenance and upkeep of equipment and yard areas
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with manual handling and working outdoors
- Good communication skills when dealing with team members and customers
- Previous yard, warehouse, or construction experience is beneficial but not essential
- Forklift/combi lift experience is an advantage (training can be provided)
