We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Nurse to become part of our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing and general care to children and young people aged 3–19 with Additional Learning Needs, while contributing to the delivery of effective Health and Social Care services in accordance with current legislation and organisational and school policies.
Hours: 18 per week (Monday & Friday (working hours 08:30 - 16:00), and a Tuesday (working hours 0830 - 12:30) Term time only
Working collaboratively with education, residential, therapy, and healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in ensuring the health, wellbeing, and safety of our pupils. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, supporting children and young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.
The role involves delivering specialist clinical interventions, promoting evidence-based practice, and supporting staff to provide safe and effective care across the school and residential settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to children and young people with a range of complex health needs.
- Assess, interpret, and respond appropriately to individual health needs.
- Deliver specialist clinical procedures including catheterisation, nasogastric feeding, oxygen therapy, suctioning, PEG care, and tracheostomy management.
- Promote and maintain the health, safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all pupils.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary, multi-agency, and community teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Support health promotion, health surveillance, and transition planning.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records.
- Ensure effective medicines management, including the safe administration, storage, ordering, and monitoring of medicines.
- Monitor and maintain medical equipment and clinical supplies.
- Respond effectively to medical and nursing emergencies and ensure emergency plans remain current and effective.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to staff in meeting pupils' healthcare and personal care needs.
- Support and supervise colleagues to promote safe and effective clinical practice.
- Participate in service development, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
- Maintain safeguarding awareness and act appropriately where concerns arise.
- Work in accordance with the NMC Code, professional standards, organisational policies, and current legislation.
