Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Joiner / Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing various wooden structures and components. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, the use of hand and power tools, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to diverse projects, including roofing, joinery, and general construction tasks.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble timber components according to technical drawings and specifications
- Install wooden structures such as flooring, partitions, doors, and window frames
- Operate hand tools (saws, chisels, hammers) and power tools (drills, sanders, saws) safely and effectively
- Perform joinery tasks including fitting joints and securing fixtures with nails or screws
- Assist with roofing projects by installing trusses or sheathing as required
- Conduct heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely during construction activities
- Carry out construction painting, plumbing, masonry, or electrical work as needed for integrated projects
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
Experience
- Proven experience in carpentry or joinery within the construction industry
- Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and installation techniques
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in carpentry and joinery tasks
- Experience with roofing, plumbing, masonry or electrical work is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during demanding physical tasks
- Familiarity with construction safety standards and practices is essential for maintaining a safe working environment
