Job Summary
The Locum SHO (ST1–ST2) will provide high‑quality clinical care across designated wards, assessment units, and outpatient areas within the NHS Trust. The postholder will work under the supervision of senior clinicians while contributing to safe, effective, and timely patient management.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical assessment of new and existing patients, including history‑taking, examination, and formulation of differential diagnoses.
- Acute care management of unwell patients, including escalation to senior staff when required.
- Ward-based duties such as reviewing patients, completing ward rounds, and updating clinical documentation.
- Emergency response participation including cardiac arrest calls (ALS required).
- Safe prescribing and medication review in line with Trust policies.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with nursing teams, AHPs, and senior medical staff.
- Handover participation to ensure continuity of care.
- Compliance with governance including incident reporting, safeguarding, and infection control.
Essential Requirements
- Full Right to Work in the UK
- Valid ALS certification
- Minimum 2 years NHS clinical experience
- GMC registration with licence to practise
- Ability to work independently at SHO level
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
