Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology
Are you an enthusiastic, motivated Consultant looking for an opportunity to help shape and transform a Diabetes and Endocrinology Service?
We are looking for a consultant to join our team at our Scarborough Hospital Site on a permanent basis.
This is a time of transformation of our department as we work towards a consultant of the week model. Our service is evolving to include teaching and research opportunities which makes this an interesting time to join us and be part of our team.
You will join our multi-disciplinary team providing a broad range of outpatient services across the areas of Scarborough, Bridlington and Malton. This beautiful catchment area encompasses both Coastal and North Yorkshire Moor areas, serving a diverse patient base.
Our broad range of services includes:
Insulin pumps
Antenatal
Transition
Diabetic foot clinics
MES and Endocrine testing
The development of inpatient care
We work closely with the well-established service at York, with access to a fortnightly endocrine MDT, a fortnightly adrenal MDT, a weekly diabetes and pump MDT, and a pituitary MDT hosted at Hull.
We eagerly encourage you to arrange a site visit, to see our department, meet the team and learn a little more about our plans for future for the service.
Interviews for this role will take place on 11th August 2026
You will be joining our existing team of 3 Consultants as we develop both inpatient outpatient diabetes and endocrinology services.
You will share inpatient ward responsibility which we are aiming to be a duty-week rota. There are significant opportunities to lead and develop key areas of the service, including diabetes technology, antenatal care, and the multidisciplinary diabetic foot service.
The post includes a commitment to the General Medicine on-call rota, currently a 1-in-16 pattern that averages to around one weekend every two months and a monthly weekday evening cover.
We welcome whole-time, part-time and job-share applications, and are committed to supporting flexible job plans. We will work with you to agree an activity commitment that suits both you and the service.
