Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a solid background in food production and preparation. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food service, and maintaining a positive working environment. You will also be responsible for the kitchen and service on the Head Chefs days off. This position requires a commitment to food safety standards and an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure that all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
- Maintain inventory levels of food supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure availability.
- Train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety practices, and kitchen protocols.
- Monitor kitchen equipment for proper functioning and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a culinary role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong knowledge of food production techniques, cooking methods, and presentation styles.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and service.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for hygiene in the kitchen.
- Culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are preferred but not essential.
- A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes is highly valued.

- Able to work effectively with the FOH team in a team environment as well as on your own in the kitchen.
- Able to work all days of the week on a rota basis.
