About the Role
We are looking for reliable, hardworking and customer-focused Car Wash Operatives / Vehicle Valeters to join our team at Waves Hand Car Wash Bedford.
The role involves washing, cleaning and valeting customer vehicles to a high standard, while delivering a friendly and professional service. This is a hands-on role, so you must be comfortable working outdoors, standing for long periods, and working in a fast-paced environment.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys practical tasks, and understands the importance of good customer service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
Cleaning the exterior of vehicles, including pre-wash, hand wash, wheels, tyres, windows and bodywork.
Cleaning vehicle interiors, including vacuuming, wiping dashboards, cleaning door panels, mats, seats, windows and interior plastics.
Drying vehicles properly to reduce water marks and ensure a high-quality finish.
Using car wash equipment, chemicals and cleaning products safely and correctly.
Supporting with different wash packages, including basic washes, inside-and-outside cleans and more detailed valet services.
Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working area at all times.
Greeting customers politely and professionally.
Helping customers understand the different wash options where required.
Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining quality standards.
Following health and safety rules, including safe use of water, electrical equipment, chemicals and PPE.
Reporting any vehicle damage, customer complaints, equipment issues or safety concerns immediately to management.
Supporting the wider team with general site duties when required.

Experience Required
Previous car wash or vehicle valeting experience is preferred but not essential.
Full training will be provided for the right person.
Experience in cleaning, manual work, hospitality, retail or customer service would also be useful.
Working Hours
Hours may include weekdays and weekends depending on rota and business needs.
Typical site opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Available shifts may include:
Morning shifts
Afternoon shifts
Full-day shifts
Weekend shifts
Flexible part-time hours
Working hours will be agreed in advance and may vary depending on weather, customer demand and business needs.

Uniform and PPE
Staff may be required to wear appropriate work clothing and protective equipment. This may include gloves, waterproof clothing, suitable footwear and any other PPE required for safe working.

Health and Safety
All staff must follow the company’s health and safety rules at all times. This includes:
Using cleaning chemicals correctly.
Wearing PPE when required.
Keeping walkways and working areas safe.
Taking care around moving vehicles.
Reporting hazards or accidents immediately.
Following instructions when using pressure washers, vacuums and other equipment.
