Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to residents in accordance with their individual care plans
- Assist residents with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and toileting needs with dignity and respect
- Support residents with meals and nutritional intake; monitor for any concerns and report changes
- Help residents with mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques
- Respond promptly to resident requests and bells; maintain a responsive and caring approach
- Maintain resident rooms and shared spaces to ensure cleanliness and comfort
- Support residents' social activities and encourage participation in daily activities
- Observe and report changes in resident health, behaviour or wellbeing to the Senior Care Assistant or Head of Care
- Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information at all times
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns or incidents
- Ensure residents' laundry is managed appropriately and personal belongings are cared for
- Support end-of-life care as needed and with sensitivity and compassion
- Assist with record-keeping and care documentation as required
- Participate in training and development activities to maintain and improve skills.
- Ensure all the online training assisted in timely manner and engage with the assessment.
- To attend team meetings, in person trainings at the care home
- Comply with health and safety procedures, including manual handling, infection control and fire safety
- Work as part of a team and support colleagues to ensure high-quality care delivery
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
- Minimum 2 years' care experience in a residential care setting
- Strong empathy and compassion for vulnerable adults
- Excellent personal hygiene and health standards
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for privacy
- Good communication and listening skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including shifts and weekends
- Enhanced DBS clearance (no safeguarding concerns)
- Right to work in the UK
- Commitment to person-centred care and treating residents with dignity
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Care Certificate qualification
- Experience supporting residents with dementia, mental health or learning disabilities
- First Aid certification
- Experience with electronic care record systems
Terms and Conditions
This is a regulated care home. All staff are required to comply with Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, CQC registration requirements, and all care home policies and procedures. An Enhanced DBS clearance is mandatory. All staff must engage in mandatory training and professional development.
