Junior Sous Chef / Sous Chef
The Scratch Group
We’re looking for a talented, ambitious Junior Sous Chef or young Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
This isn’t your typical role. You’ll be working across our family of businesses from elevated brunch and small plates at The Loading Bay, modern pub dining at The Diggle Hotel through to large-scale football and event catering.
No two weeks are the same.
About us
We are a young, ambitious hospitality group, we believe great kitchens are built on teamwork respect and a shared passion for great food – not big egos.
Led by our Founder & Executive Chef, we’re passionate about developing people as much as we are developing menus. We believe in investing in our team, and giving chefs genuine responsibility, encouraging creativity and creating clear pathways for progression as the business grows.
If you’re looking for somewhere to learn, contribute and build a long-term career, we’d love to meet you.
The Role
Working alongside our Founder, you’ll help deliver exceptional food across all of our venues.
You’ll be given real responsibility from day one while continuing to develop your leadership skills.
· Supporting day-to-day running of kitchen services and inspiring junior chefs.
· Leading services confidently in the absence of senior chefs.
· Maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, quality, consistency and presentation.
· Assisting with menu development, seasonal dishes and new concepts.
· Helping to managing prep, stock control and food safety.
· Supporting event catering and match day operations.
· Working across venues with business demand.
We’re looking for someone who:
· Has experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous.
· Embraces new challenges, enjoys variety and has a true passion for food.
· Is confident leading a small kitchen and making decisions independently.
· Has the drive to step up, learn and grow with a fast-moving business.
· Can organise their own prep, prioritise tasks and deliver a smooth service without relying on a large brigade.
· Is reliable, positive and remains calm under pressure.
· Leads by example and enjoys developing others.
· Wants to be part of building something exciting.
What we offer:
This is an opportunity to be part of the founding kitchen ream as we continue to grow.
You’ll work closely with our Founder, supported by a Commis, taking real ownership of day-to-day service and standards. If you’re used to being one of many in a large brigade and are looking for more responsibility and a chance to mark your mark, this is exactly the role for you.
· Competitive salary (up to £36k dependent on experience), paid overtime and gratuities
· Opportunity to help shape exciting new food concepts.
· Work across multiple venues and events.
· Progression as the business grows with direct mentorship from our founder.
· A supportive team environment that values collaboration, creativity and hard work.
If you’re looking for a role where you’ll genuinely make an impact, not just another cog in the kitchen – we’d love to hear from you.
