Family Therapist (CAMHS Inpatient Service)
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: £32,800 – £42,400 DOE (pro rata)
Hours: 30 hours per week (Part-Time, Permanent)
A reputable and well-established private mental health provider in Chelmsford is currently seeking a qualified Family Therapist with experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to join a specialist inpatient team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a therapeutic, recovery-focused environment, supporting young people and their families through intensive mental health challenges.
The Role:
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will deliver individual and family therapy to young people within an inpatient CAMHS setting. The post holder will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing care plans, and delivering structured, evidence-based interventions that support family dynamics and contribute to overall treatment goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapy to children, adolescents, and their families within an inpatient setting
- Conduct assessments and develop personalised therapy plans
- Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to support patient recovery
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews and treatment planning
- Promote engagement and education of families in the therapeutic process
Requirements:
- Recognised postgraduate qualification in family or systemic therapy (or equivalent)
- Registration or accreditation with a recognised body (e.g. UKCP, AFT, HCPC, or equivalent), or actively working toward accreditation
- Experience delivering therapy in a CAMHS inpatient or equivalent intensive mental health environment
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with complex family dynamics
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills
Desirable:
- Experience in multi-agency working and safeguarding procedures
- Familiarity with systemic, integrative, or trauma-informed approaches
