Personal Assistant (PA) – Support for Young Adult (Wheelchair User)

About the Role
We are a friendly family based in Sheffield (S2) looking for reliable, positive, and proactive Personal Assistants (PAs) to support our son, a young wheelchair user, to live as independently as possible and enjoy an active lifestyle.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role both at home and out in the community. You will play a key role in supporting independence, confidence, and day-to-day wellbeing.
About Him
Our son is an engaging and ambitious young man with a great sense of humour. He values independence, equality, and being treated like any other young adult.
He enjoys:
- Going to the gym and staying active
- Gaming, music, and film
- Creative media (editing and music production)
- Social outings, cafés, and exploring new places
- Occasional travel outside Sheffield
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting independence at home and in the community
- Providing personal care with dignity and respect
- Assisting with moving and handling, daily stretches, and use of equipment (full training provided)
- Preparing drinks and simple meals
- Supporting access to the gym, activities, and social outings
- Driving and accompanying him to appointments, day to day outings and trips
- Supporting overnight stays ( hotel-based respite)
- Working alongside family members and an existing PA team
Hours Available
Flexible working (job share welcomed):
- Overnight respite: approx. 3 Fridays per month
- Weekend respite: approx. once per month (Friday evening – Sunday morning)
- Saturday : 10 hour day shift
- Sunday: 10 hour day shift

About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient, and respectful
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Physically able to safely assist with moving and handling (training provided)
- Positive, energetic, and with a good sense of humour
- Able to build a strong, professional working relationship
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to drive an adapted vehicle
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check
Experience
Previous care experience is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.
