Job Summary
We’re looking for caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Health Care Assistants to join our friendly care team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting our residents’ day‑to‑day needs and helping create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities
- Assist the residents with all daily living activities as per their care plans.
- Assist a trained nurse to care for the seriously ill and vulnerable residents.
- Assist in bathing residents in bed or in the bathroom, including care of hair, hands and feet.
- Assist residents getting in and out of bed with dressing and undressing, and with mobilisation as appropriate.
- Assist with care of residents with complex conditions e.g. tracheostomy, ventilator, PICC Lines etc when appropriate training has been completed.
- Engage with the residents on a regular basis, by way of conversation, reading, playing board games, grooming hair and nails etc.
- Prepare the room and residents for meals. Feed or help residents as appropriate and make comfortable after meal. Bring to the attention of the senior nurse any resident who is having difficulty in taking food or drink. After evening meal use small sweeper in lounges if necessary.
- Strip and make unoccupied beds and put away laundry as required.
- Give and remove bedpans, urinals, sanichairs and commodes or assist to/on the toilet. Observe contents, measure and record, and report any abnormalities to the senior nurse prior to disposal.
- Give and change sputum cartons. Observe and report any abnormality to the senior nurse.
- Escort residents to and from daily activities.
- Chaperone and escort residents to hospital appointments and other outings as directed.
- In accordance with the Nursing Home Policy, assist another member of the nursing staff in checking and listing residents' property and valuables, and arranging for its safe storage.
- Take all reasonable precautions to ensure that residents' property is safeguarded.
- Assist a trained nurse with "last offices" when necessary.
- Attend/complete all training for the role required including fire drills and lifting lectures.
- Any other relevant and reasonable tasks as part of this role.
Experience
- Previous care experience is helpful but not essential – full training will be provided
- A caring, respectful, and patient approach
- Good spoken and written English
- Ability to use basic IT systems for care notes and reports
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A flexible approach to working days and weekends
Essential Requirements
