Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Person/Ganger to oversee and coordinate construction activities on-site. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising Groundworkers, ensuring safety standards are maintained, and assisting in the smooth progression of projects. This role is vital in ensuring that construction work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Person/Ganger will work closely with site managers and other trades to facilitate effective communication and workflow.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct a team of groundworkers on-site
- Coordinate daily tasks to ensure timely completion of construction phases
- Assist in setting out work areas and ensuring work is carried out according to plans and specifications
- Enforce health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment at all times
- Communicate effectively with site management regarding progress, issues, and resource requirements
- Assist with the organisation of materials, tools, and equipment needed for daily tasks
- Monitor work quality and ensure adherence to project standards
- Support the training of new or less experienced workers as required
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction processes, health & safety regulations, and site procedures
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret plans effectively
- Good communication skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and management
- Relevant certifications such as CSCS card or equivalent are desirable
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy materials when necessary
