Job Summary
We are a small independent restaurant and takeaway based on Waterloo Road, ST6. We make all of our food from fresh, this includes: our meat, our salad and even our sauces!
We are seeking a talented and preferably experienced Chef to join our unique culinary team here at The Dirty Diner. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food, and extensive experience in food preparation and kitchen management. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality, and inspiring a team of culinary professionals to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The Chef will play a vital role in maintaining the organisation’s reputation for excellence in hospitality and cuisine.
Cooking
- Coating chicken in our homemade flour and frying in the fryer
- Cooking food on the flat top griddle such as smash burgers, tacos etc
- Cooking fries and other items in the fryer
- Maintaining and cleaning the cooking area while you’re cooking
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient operation and high-quality food production.
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in accordance with organisational standards and customer expectations.
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards, storage procedures, and allergen control.
- Oversee food inventory, ordering supplies as needed to maintain stock levels without waste.
- Develop new menu items in collaboration with management, incorporating current culinary trends.
- Monitor kitchen operations during service hours, ensuring timely delivery of meals and exceptional customer service.
- Train and mentor junior staff members to enhance their culinary skills and professional development.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting is desired however not essential.
- Supervising experience with a track record of managing teams effectively.
- Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations recognised within the hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff members.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure during busy service periods.
- Experience in menu development, food presentation, and maintaining high standards of quality.
- Previous experience in restaurant settings or catering environments is highly desirable.
