Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Financial Controller (12-month maternity cover) for a unique and well-established business based in Somerset.
This is a fully site-based position, offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to take on a key leadership role within a fast-paced and diverse organisation.
Reporting to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in managing the central finance function, ensuring robust financial control and delivering accurate reporting to support strategic decision-making across the business.

Lead, manage and develop the finance team on a day-to-day basis

Oversee all payment processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness

Manage month-end and year-end close processes in line with reporting deadlines

Review monthly management accounts, including reconciliations, accruals and prepayments

Oversee payroll processes to ensure compliance and accuracy

Maintain and enhance financial controls, systems and processes

Support budgeting and forecasting activities

Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax and audit requirements

Business partner with operational teams and senior stakeholders

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support finance projects

Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent preferred)

Strong leadership and team management experience

Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting and accounting processes

Experience overseeing payments, payroll and month-end processes

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders

Highly organised and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
