Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli products, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills within a dynamic retail environment, supporting the smooth operation of our deli section.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a range of deli items, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and garnishing platters.
- Serve customers in a courteous and professional manner, taking orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, adhering to food safety standards at all times.
- Restock shelves and display units with fresh products, ensuring items are well-presented.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and recording deliveries.
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for colleagues and customers.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operation of the store.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or within a restaurant environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing stock levels accurately.
- Experience in serving customers with professionalism and friendliness.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods.
- Kitchen or culinary experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail and cleanliness.

Pay: £12.21-£14.64 per hour
