Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Practitioner to join our team in a brand-new children’s home. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing service and to help create the right environment for children and young people to feel safe, supported and able to thrive. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support within a residential setting, promoting emotional wellbeing, positive relationships and personal development. Previous experience of working with children and young people is desirable, but most importantly, we are seeking someone with a caring approach, strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference.
the position includes sleep ins, this is paid at £65 per night.
Duties
- Supervise and support children and young people in their daily activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Implement individualised care plans tailored to each child's needs, promoting their personal development and independence
- Foster positive relationships through effective communication, offering emotional support and guidance
- Assist with organising recreational activities, educational programmes, and social outings to encourage engagement and skill development
- Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents, and progress in accordance with organisational policies
- Support children with daily routines such as meal times, personal hygiene, and bedtime routines
- Drive children safely to appointments or activities when required, ensuring adherence to road safety regulations
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to deliver consistent care and support
Skills
- Experience working with children or in childcare environments is highly advantageous
- Valid driving licence with clean driving record for transporting children when necessary
- Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members
- Ability to develop and follow care plans tailored to individual needs
- Proficiency in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Compassionate attitude with patience, resilience, and organisational skills necessary for managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment
Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
