Summary
'Clinical Lead Nurse' position based in at St Judes Nursing Home offers an exciting opportunity to lead our nursing team. You will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care and supporting our residents’ well-being while upholding the values of compassion and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight & Governance
- Provide clinical leadership and ensure high standards of care across the home or service.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Ensure care delivery aligns with regulatory standards, professional best practice, and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain quality, safety, and compliance.
- Resident Care & Health Management
- Oversee assessment, care planning, and delivery of resident health needs.
- Support staff in managing complex clinical cases, long-term conditions, and end-of-life care.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and intervene to improve care quality.
- Staff Leadership & Development
- Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to nursing, care staff.
- Conduct training sessions on clinical procedures, medication administration, infection control, and safeguarding.
- Lead professional development and ensure staff maintain professional registration and competencies.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and reflective practice.
- Medication & Treatment Management
- Oversee safe administration, storage, and documentation of medications.
- Review medication policies and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support staff in managing residents’ treatment plans and liaise with GPs, specialists, and pharmacists.
- Safeguarding & Risk Management
- Lead safeguarding initiatives, ensuring staff are aware of procedures and risks.
- Investigate clinical incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure risk assessments are completed and regularly reviewed for all residents.
- Qualifications
- Registered Nurse qualification with valid registration.
- Proven experience in nursing home or elderly care settings.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s, and end-of-life care.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
- Commitment to high standards of patient safety and quality of care.
- Desirable: ICU or hospice experience.
