Senior Electrical Estimator
Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 + package
Location: South of England
Overview
An established, family-owned mechanical, electrical and renewable services contractor is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join its growing pre-construction team. The business delivers high-quality engineering solutions across commercial, industrial, and large-scale residential sectors, with a strong focus on sustainability and renewable technologies.
This is a key role responsible for leading electrical tenders, supporting project wins, and contributing to the continued expansion of the company’s project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive electrical estimates for a wide range of projects
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and employer’s requirements to produce detailed costings
- Take ownership of tenders from enquiry through to submission and handover
- Liaise with supply chain partners to obtain quotations and ensure best value procurement
- Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to improve competitiveness
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with internal stakeholders and clients
- Collaborate closely with mechanical estimators and design teams on MEP bids
- Prepare tender documentation including bills of quantities, take-offs, and pricing schedules
- Maintain awareness of market rates, labour costs, and material pricing trends
- Support the commercial and project delivery teams during project handover
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within an M&E / building services contractor
- Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential projects
- Ability to price projects from first principles and interpret technical drawings
- Experience working with main contractors and within competitive tender environments
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of risk management
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
Desirable
- Experience working on renewable energy or decarbonisation-focused projects
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
- Knowledge of design-and-build and traditional procurement routes
- Experience collaborating with in-house design teams
