HGV Technician
Location: Bideford, Devon
Salary: Up to £55000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday – Day Shift
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial workshop based in Bideford, Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician seeking a Monday-to-Friday day shift position with no weekend work and strong earning potential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy goods vehicles to the highest standards of safety, compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs
- Complete PMI inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
- Maintain and repair air brake systems, ABS/EBS systems and brake chambers
- Conduct axle, suspension and steering repairs
- Diagnose engine faults and carry out diesel engine repairs
- Repair and maintain cooling, fuel and air systems
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure full compliance with road transport legislation
- Complete all job cards and compliance documentation accurately
- Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Good knowledge of DVSA regulations and compliance standards
- Experience working on a range of HGV makes and models
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
- IRTEC accreditation desirable but not essential
