Merchandising Manager/Senior Merchandiser

Our client are looking for someone with a get-up-and-go attitude who can rally the troops and make proactive, data-based decisions.
This role would suit a confident, commercially minded merchandising professional who is comfortable working with a high level of autonomy, taking ownership of product performance and leading the overall layout and merchandising strategy within a fast-paced merchant environment.
As Senior Merchandiser, you will have responsibility for managing and developing key product ranges, using your experience and judgement to make informed commercial decisions. You will be trusted to work independently while collaborating closely with buying, supply chain, branch teams, and suppliers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking full ownership of assigned product categories, managing them autonomously from forecasting through to performance review
- Leading and shaping the overall merchandising layout, ensuring space is used effectively to maximise sales, visibility, and customer flow
- Planning, implementing, and continuously improving in-branch and showroom layouts in line with commercial objectives
- Managing and optimising product ranges within a builders’ merchant environment
- Forecasting demand and controlling stock levels to ensure strong availability and stock efficiency
- Analysing sales data, margins, and market trends to drive commercial decisions
- Working with buying teams on range reviews, promotions, and new product introductions
- Supporting branch teams with merchandising standards and layout execution
- Building and maintaining strong supplier and internal stakeholder relationships
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Merchandiser or experienced Merchandiser within a builders’ merchant or construction supplies business
- Demonstrable experience leading merchandising layouts or space planning within a merchant environment
- A strong ability to work independently and take ownership with minimal supervision
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with confidence in decision-making
- In-depth knowledge of merchant product ranges and customer requirements
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset
