Harrison Hinchliffe Accountants is a well-established accountancy practice based in Glossop. We provide a proactive and personal service to a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and landlords to established limited companies across a wide range of sectors.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Client Manager to join our team and take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients, providing technical support and helping to maintain the high standards of service our clients have come to expect.
The Role
This is a varied, client-facing role suitable for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys building relationships with clients and taking ownership of their workload.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of clients from a variety of industries
- Preparation and review of VAT returns
- Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparation of corporation tax returns and computations
- Preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns
- Advising clients on accounting and taxation matters
- Supporting and supervising junior team members and bookkeeping staff
- Liaising directly with HMRC and other third parties where required
- Assisting with workflow management and ensuring deadlines are met
- Maintaining excellent client relationships through meetings, telephone calls and email correspondence
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is AAT qualified (preferred) or qualified by experience
- Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice
- Has strong experience preparing accounts and tax returns for a range of businesses and individuals
- Has excellent working knowledge of Xero and Sage
- Is confident communicating directly with clients
- Can manage their own workload and prioritise effectively
- Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Enjoys working as part of a small, supportive team
Experience with Digita software would be advantageous but is not essential.
