About the Role
We are seeking committed and compassionate Children’s Home Support Workers to join our residential service in Welwyn Garden City, supporting children and young people with Learning Disabilities (LD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Challenging Behaviour.
This role involves working 12‑hour shifts and requires individuals who are resilient, patient and passionate about providing high‑quality, person‑centred care in a children’s residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, high‑quality care and support to children and young people with LD and Autism
- Support young people who may present with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour support approaches
- Work 1:1 and as part of a team during 12‑hour shifts
- Promote independence, emotional wellbeing and daily living skills
- Build trusted, professional relationships with young people
- Support with education, activities, appointments and community access
- Follow care plans, risk assessments and behaviour management strategies
- Maintain accurate daily records and reports
- Ensure a safe, structured and nurturing environment in line with Ofsted requirements
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with LD, Autism and/or challenging behaviour
- Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, including nights and weekends
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- NVQ / QCF Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards)
- Previous experience in a children’s residential home
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), MAPA, Team Teach or similar
- Full UK driving licence
