Job title: Chinese Speaking Child Education & Development Mentor
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chinese-Speaking Child Development & Education Mentor to support the academic, personal, and emotional development of one school-aged child.
This is not a traditional nanny position. We are looking for someone who is passionate about education and child development, with the ability to guide, motivate, and help a child develop lifelong habits of independence, discipline, and confidence.
The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a structured, nurturing, and positive environment while supporting the child's academic progress, daily routines, and overall development.
Responsibilities
Academic Support & Learning Management
- Develop and implement daily study plans, including homework, revision, and preparation.
- Supervise learning sessions and encourage effective study habits, concentration, and time management.
- Identify areas for academic improvement and provide targeted learning support.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates and feedback to parents.
Behaviour & Personal Development
- Establish and maintain consistent daily routines and clear expectations.
- Encourage responsibility, independence, and self-discipline.
- Support the child's emotional development and guide them through challenges with patience and consistency.
- Balance warmth with appropriate authority and clear boundaries.
Daily Care & Routine Management
- Assist with school drop-offs and pick-ups when required.
- Organise after-school schedules, balancing study, sports, hobbies, and relaxation.
- Support extracurricular interests, such as music, sports, and creative activities.
- Promote healthy routines and positive lifestyle habits.
Enrichment & Planning
- Research and coordinate educational programmes, extracurricular activities, and holiday enrichment opportunities.
- Encourage reading, outdoor activities, social development, and curiosity.
- Help the child develop confidence, resilience, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding the child's academic progress, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
- Liaise with schools, tutors, and extracurricular providers where appropriate.
- Maintain professionalism and respect clear family boundaries at all times.
Requirements:
- Have experience in teaching, tutoring, education, psychology, child development, or a closely related field.
- Be confident in supporting both academic achievement and personal development.
- Be able to establish structure while building a positive and trusting relationship with children.
- Be proactive, organised, and capable of working independently.
- Demonstrate excellent judgement, discretion, and professional boundaries.
- Be calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent.
- Have excellent spoken and written English.
