Overall Responsibilities
As a Senior Care Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. You will lead by example, support the care team, and ensure that all care is delivered in accordance with current legislation, best practice guidance, CQC standards, and The Pines Care Home's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care that respects each resident's dignity, privacy, independence, preferences, and choices.
- Act as a role model by promoting excellent standards of care and professional practice.
- Champion resident safety, wellbeing, safeguarding, and dignity at all times.
- Support and supervise Care Assistants, providing guidance and leadership during each shift.
- Work closely with the Home Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure the smooth running of the home.
- Ensure care is delivered in accordance with individual care plans, risk assessments, and current best practice.
- Complete, review, and update care plans, risk assessments, and daily care documentation accurately.
- Monitor and record residents' health and wellbeing, including fluid intake, nutrition, repositioning, and other clinical observations.
- Liaise professionally with GPs, district nurses, community teams, hospitals, therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns, and changes in residents' conditions promptly and appropriately.
- Promote residents' independence, social inclusion, and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and homely environment for residents.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and working condition, reporting defects promptly.
- Safeguard residents' personal belongings and respect confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control throughout the home.
- Support medication administration where trained and competent, in accordance with company policies.
- Complete all mandatory training, competency assessments, and professional development required for the role.
- Ensure compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards, Health and Social Care Act 2008, safeguarding legislation, and The Pines Care Home's policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (Essential).
- Minimum 3 years' experience working within a health or social care environment.
- Previous experience supporting adults with Learning Disabilities is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Good written and verbal English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A caring, compassionate, and professional approach to supporting vulnerable adults.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, person-centred care, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), DoLS, infection prevention and control, and health and safety.
- Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as required.
