Art Teaching Role in an Outstanding School
An outstanding school in Walsall is seeking to appoint a creative and passionate Art Teacher to join its highly successful Creative Arts department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-achieving and supportive school that values creativity, artistic expression, and exceptional teaching.
Art is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical skills, creative confidence, and critical thinking through a broad and engaging curriculum.
About the Role
You will teach Art across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering inspiring and intellectually stimulating lessons that encourage experimentation, creativity, and independent artistic development.
Students will explore a wide range of artistic styles, techniques, and media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art, while developing strong observational and analytical skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations, supporting them in producing high-quality coursework and achieving excellent academic outcomes.
The successful candidate will contribute to exhibitions, enrichment opportunities, and wider creative initiatives that celebrate student achievement and artistic talent.
You will work collaboratively within a successful Creative Arts department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Art across KS3, KS4, and KS5
- Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Art lessons
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations
- Support portfolio development and exhibition opportunities
- Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
- Support extracurricular art clubs and enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching Art at secondary level
- Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
- Strong subject knowledge across a range of artistic disciplines
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience teaching A-Level Art
- Experience working in an outstanding or high-achieving school
- Ability to contribute to exhibitions and creative enrichment activities
- Strong portfolio and coursework guidance experience
