The Role
We are looking for a confident and proactive Business Development Manager to help grow employer partnerships across England, with a particular focus on the South West, M4 corridor, West Midlands/Birmingham and London.
This is a new business role first and foremost. The successful person will be responsible for finding, developing and closing opportunities with employers who are looking to use apprenticeship training to develop their workforce. They will also manage and grow the commercial relationship with employers they bring on board.
This role would suit someone who enjoys opening doors, speaking to employers, finding and closing opportunities. We need someone who is comfortable working to sales targets, able to represent the business professionally and build long-term trust with customers. Also, someone who is passionate about creating apprenticeship opportunities and championing courses, to develop the workforce and individual careers.
Key responsibilities
· Generate new employer opportunities through proactive activity including; phone calls, LinkedIn, email, networking, events and face-to-face activity.
· Build a strong pipeline across the South West, M4 corridor, West Midlands/Birmingham and London.
· Follow up inbound enquiries fairly allocated through the sales process.
· Qualify employer needs and match them to relevant apprenticeship training options.
· Arrange and attend employer meetings, both online and in person.
· Create and close new apprenticeship opportunities, handing them over to onboarding once agreed.
· Maintain the commercial relationship with employers, including future cohort and growth conversations.
· Keep CRM records accurate and up to date, including activity, pipeline, next steps and forecasts.
· Provide regular sales updates and contribute to pipeline reviews.
· Work closely with internal teams to ensure employers receive a joined-up experience.
· Stay within the sales role: owning the commercial relationship, while onboarding owns learner set-up and tutors own learner progress and delivery.
What we are looking for
· Experience in business development.
· Confidence in prospecting over the phone, virtually, online and face-to-face.
· Comfortable attending face-to-face and virtual meetings, and networking events.
· Able to manage a sales pipeline and work to clear activity and outcome targets.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with employers.
· Good organisation and attention to detail, especially around CRM and follow-up.
· Commercially minded, but also professional and ethical in approach.
· Resilient, self-motivated and able to work independently.
· Apprenticeship or training provider experience would be helpful but is not essential if the person has the right sales discipline and attitude.

· Funded learner starts generated.
· New customers won.
· Growth from employers already brought into the business.
· Quality of CRM, forecasting and handover information.
· Consistent activity across phone, virtual, face-to-face meetings and networking.

Package
· £30,000 base salary plus bonus OTE £35,000 - £36,000
