RME Consultants are recruiting for a Deputy Nursery Manager to join a highly reputable Nursery setting in Richmond, London.
Role: Deputy Nursery Manager
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum depending on experience
A potential to also earn up to another £3,800 in bonus!

Duties of a Deputy Nursery Manager:
Leadership and Management
- Assist the Nursery Manager: Support the Nursery Manager in the overall management of the nursery, including taking charge in their absence.
- Team Supervision: Oversee the daily activities of nursery staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Staff Development: Help identify training needs, plan professional development activities, and conduct performance appraisals.
- Recruitment and Induction: Participate in the recruitment process and ensure new staff are properly inducted and integrated into the team.
Educational Program
- Curriculum Implementation: Support the planning, implementation, and review of the nursery’s curriculum to ensure it meets developmental and educational standards.
- Activity Planning: Oversee the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that stimulate children’s development and learning.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor and assess the progress of children, maintaining accurate records and reporting on their development.
Child Welfare and Safety
- Safeguarding: Ensure all policies and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding are strictly followed.
- Health and Safety: Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and conducive to learning.
- First Aid: Provide first aid as necessary and ensure that the nursery has an adequate supply of first aid materials.
Parental Engagement
- Parent Communication: Maintain open, positive communication with parents and caregivers, addressing concerns and providing updates on their child’s progress.
- Parent Involvement: Encourage and facilitate parental involvement in nursery activities and events.
Administrative Duties
- Policy Implementation: Ensure nursery policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to by all staff.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records related to children’s attendance, health, and development.
Requirements of a Deputy Nursery Manager:
- A recognised qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 3, CACHE Level 3, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in curriculum planning, child development assessment, and implementing early years education frameworks (such as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in the UK).
- Demonstrable experience in staff supervision, team leadership, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and children.
