We are looking for an exceptional van driver to join our fantastic Retail Team in East Ardsley.
Our Charity Shops raise vital funds for our Branch area. It helps connect the local community to the work that we do in our Animal Centre at East Ardsley.
As a van driver for us you will support the services of the Branch in retail operations. You will ensure the smooth and timely operational movement of donations, rubbish and animal goods around the Branch network and support the Animal Centre in their welfare work.
This role is 22.5 hours per week, working 3 days out of 7.
Accountabilities
- To drive the assigned vehicles in a safe and respectable manner at all times, be responsible for maintenance checks and cleanliness. Reporting any major problems, defects or damage to the designated Line Manager/Head of Retail
- To keep all motor documentation up to date in regards to licenses, insurance and comply with all Branch and Society Policies.
- To keep the vehicles securely locked and legally parked at all times. To ensure that the Branch vehicle is safely parked in the Retail Warehouse car park overnight.
- Supervise a team of volunteers in van operations and ensure there is maximum cover.
- Actively promote all Branch & Society initiatives and campaigns to promote awareness of the charity.
- Build and develop positive internal and external relationships to ensure maximum income for the charity.
- Provide excellent customer service to donors & supporters
- To attend meetings and training courses as requested.
- To carry out such other tasks as directed by the designated Line Manager/Head of Retail
STOCK
- To co-ordinate the distribution of donated goods across the Branch network to ensure that donations are utilised to their maximum & generate income to agreed targets.
- Minimise stock losses through careful handling of goods, securing appropriately in the vehicle.
- To work with the Head of Retail and the Shop Supervisors to ensure that donations and house collections are booked in correctly and organised weekly
- To provide a collection and delivery service to Branch Members, Customers, and Members of the Public
- To distribute donation bags, leaflets and other promotional materials when necessary
- To support Stock Generation and Fundraising activities run by the Branch
ADMINISTRATION & SECURITY
- To complete all appropriate vehicle reports, mileage returns, stock movement and maintenance records.
- Ensure that appropriate HR policies and procedures are adhered to for the recruitment and supervision of volunteers in compliance with the relevant legislation and Branch policies and procedures seeking guidance from the Head of Retail as required
- Ensure all relevant administration is completed within the agreed timescales

· Supporting and promoting the Animal Food Bank scheme within the shops
· Representing the Branch in the community and encouraging customers and donors to support the work of the Animal Centre
