Job Overview -_ this is a permanent full time role_
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing personalised support to Adults with Learning Disabilities, helping them to develop essential life skills and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be based in Whitworth, Rochdale and will be flexible to cover shifts in our other residential and supported living homes as and when required with the opportunity of sleep in's so there are lots of overtime if and when needed.
The ideal candidate will be strong minded, calm under pressure, proactive, caring and have the ability to lead by example. Working within a similar role support adults with complex behaviours is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the right individual.
Responsibilities
- Offer personalised support tailored to each individual’s needs, promoting their well-being and development
- Assist with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Support individuals in engaging with community activities and socialising opportunities
- Mentoring individuals to build confidence, resilience, and independence
- Work closely with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure consistent support plans are followed
- Maintain accurate records of support provided and progress made
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
Skills
- Experience or interest in working with vulnerable adults
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to teach new skills in a patient and encouraging manner
- Organised with good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support others’ development
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of individuals supported
