Band 6/7 Visual Screening Orthoptist

Sanctuary Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6/7 Visual Screening Orthoptist to join a specialist eye care service in Jersey. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with an exceptional lifestyle in one of the UK’s most desirable island locations.

The Role
You will work autonomously to deliver a high-quality visual screening and orthoptic service, carrying out advanced diagnostic assessments and supporting patients with a range of ophthalmic conditions, including glaucoma. This role requires strong clinical judgement and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of orthoptic and visual screening assessments
- Analyse and interpret diagnostic test results, including OCT scans and visual fields
- Identify new or deteriorating eye conditions and refer appropriately
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical findings
- Provide clear, tailored advice to patients regarding their eye health and treatment
- Communicate complex clinical information in a sensitive and accessible manner
- Work collaboratively with consultants and multidisciplinary teams
- Support clinical governance, audits, and service development where required
Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent) in Orthoptics
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate clinical experience
- Registration with the HCPC
- Experience in visual screening
- Ability to work independently and make informed clinical decisions
- Strong communication and patient care skills
Desirable
- Experience conducting clinical audits
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or students
