Mabel’s Café at Shallowmead Nurseries is looking for a reliable and flexible Café Assistants to help with front-of-house service, customer care, food and drink service, clearing tables, taking payments and general café duties.
The role would suit someone hard-working, practical and personable, with a calm and helpful manner when dealing with customers. Applicants should be comfortable working as part of a team, but also able to work independently once trained, including at times when direct supervision may be limited.
Availability across both weekdays and weekends is important, as shifts are arranged according to business needs on a rota basis. Some flexibility to assist in other areas of Shallowmead Nurseries may also be required from time to time.
Duties include:
- Serving food and drinks to customers
- Following food hygiene and safety procedures
- Clearing and resetting tables
- Taking payments and using the till
- Maintaining good cleanliness standards
- Serving alcohol in accordance with licensing requirements and company procedures
- Assisting with opening, closing and end-of-day routines
- Helping with cashing up where trained and authorised
- Locking up where trained, authorised and appropriate
- Supporting other areas of the business when required
