We are working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school to appoint a Second in Charge of Mathematics from September 2026.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious and highly capable Maths teacher who is ready to step into middle leadership, or for an existing 2i/c seeking a fresh challenge in a supportive and high-expectations environment.
The Role
As Second in Charge of Mathematics, you will work closely with the Head of Department to support the leadership and development of a successful Maths team.
You will help drive outstanding teaching and learning, improve pupil outcomes across KS3–KS5, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the department.
Alongside your classroom teaching, you will take ownership of a key area such as:
- Teaching & Learning
- Curriculum Development
- Assessment & Progress
- Staff Coaching & Development

About You
We are looking for an excellent Maths teacher who is ready to take the next step. You will have:
- Strong subject knowledge across KS4 and KS5
- A proven record of high-quality teaching and raising attainment
- The ability to use data effectively to improve outcomes
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Ambition to develop as a leader (or further develop existing leadership experience)
Experience in a diverse or urban school context and A Level teaching is desirable, along with the required Teaching qualifications and Teaching Status.
