Locations: Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (30-minute lunch break, plus two 15-minute breaks)
Contract: Full-time, Own Transport Required as no local public transport.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and proactive Recycling Yard Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our recycling and processing facilities near Woodhall Spa.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team involved in the dismantling and processing of commercial refrigeration equipment collected from across the UK, while ensuring operational efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with all health and safety requirements.
This is a hands-on supervisory role that requires strong leadership skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Also being able to help out the teams with manually dismantling of Commercial refrigeration, making up of pallets of Metals for outbound shipments, ensuring the artic loads of Metals per month are achieved. We also need you to be able to handle several artic's loading and unloading during the day and ensuring that the paperwork is complete correctly for loads recieved on site and loads leaving site.
You must have your own transport, as there are no public transport links to the Woodhall Spa facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of yard and warehouse operatives.
- Ensure the safe and efficient dismantling of refrigeration and related equipment using hand tools and power tools.
- Monitor productivity and workflow to achieve daily operational targets.
- Ensure materials are correctly sorted, processed, stored, and labelled.
- Oversee the safe handling, loading, unloading, and movement of heavy and bulky items.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and cleanliness throughout the site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to team members.
- Report operational issues, equipment faults, and health and safety concerns to management.
- Assist with stock control, waste management, and general site operations.
- Promote a positive working culture and lead by example.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous supervisory experience within recycling, waste management, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a yard or warehouse environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable with strong timekeeping and a positive work ethic.
- Physically fit and willing to undertake hands-on operational duties when required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational targets.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in recycling, waste processing, or metal recovery operations.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and plant equipment.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- First Aid or Health & Safety qualifications would be an advantage.
