We are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Dewsbury (WF13), supporting pupils aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Complex Needs, Communication Difficulties, and additional learning needs.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to help students develop confidence, communication skills, independence, and the tools they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students to access learning and achieve their individual goals.
You will help deliver a personalised curriculum focused on:

Communication and interaction skills

Independence and life skills development

Emotional wellbeing and self-regulation

Sensory and experiential learning
-
Building confidence and social skills
-
Achieving EHCP outcomes through tailored support
Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

Assisting with classroom activities and personalised learning programmes

Supporting pupils with Autism, Complex Needs, and Communication Difficulties

Using communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, and sensory resources

Encouraging independence and engagement in learning

Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff

Supporting with personal care where required
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, Autism, or Complex Needs

A patient, caring, and resilient approach

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Full-time availability (Monday–Friday)
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
