Overview
We are seeking a self-employed, part-time, occasional, skilled and self-motivated PAT Tester to operate independently, providing essential electrical safety testing services on a sub-contract basis. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical safety knowledge and experience with electrical equipment, ensuring safety compliance across various environments. This role offers the opportunity to work flexibly delivering high standards of service in diverse settings such as student accomodation, offices and workshops.
Our emphasis is on thoroughness and identifying unsafe appliances that present a fire and shock risk to users and property rather than a per item charge and the candidate will be expected to follow this method of work. A method procedure will be supplied for clarity.
Duties
- Conduct portable appliance tests (PAT) on a wide range of electrical equipment in accordance with industry standards.
- Perform small equipment repairs.
- Provide guidance and recommendations for electrical safety improvements.
- Supply detailed digital records of all tests conducted, ensuring documentation complies with regulatory requirements and photographic evidence of fails.
- Identify potential faults or hazards, with emphasis on identifying fake, counterfeit and lookalike appliances and advise clients on necessary remedial actions.
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained properly for accurate results. Seaward Apollo preferred.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in PAT testing and C and G 2377-77 are essential.
- References required.
- Good communication skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid self-employment status with appropriate licences or certifications and Public Liability Insurance for electrical testing activities. This role offers the flexibility to operate independently while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism across various sectors requiring PAT testing services.
- Must have own vehicle, driving licence.
- Must have own PAT Test equipment and label printer.
Pay: From £25.00 per hour
