Role Overview
- The Health & Safety Facilitator is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s Health & Safety management system within a CNC Machining and Chemical (ENP) Plating manufacturing environment.
- Working closely with operational teams and reporting to the Group Quality Manager, the role ensures compliance with all relevant legislation, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports the business in achieving its health and safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer the company’s Health & Safety management system in line with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements
- Support the implementation and ongoing adherence to Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards across the business
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses; ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Health & Safety records, including incident logs, training records, and risk assessments
- Arrange support from third parties for support outside the direct means of the business
- Monitor and track key Health & Safety performance indicators, reporting trends and improvement actions to the Quality Manager
- Coordinate and deliver Health & Safety training, inductions, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors
- Support line managers and supervisors in fulfilling their Health & Safety responsibilities
- Assist with external audits, inspections, and regulatory visits
- Ensure that all required Health & Safety documentation is controlled, reviewed, and updated as necessary
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees and encouraging hazard reporting and safe behaviours
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills and response planning
Key Attributes (Skills, Experience & Behaviours)
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practices
- Experience supporting or maintaining a Health & Safety management system (e.g. ISO 45001 desirable)
- Familiarity with risk assessments, incident investigation techniques, and auditing processes
Qualifications
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent) preferred
- IOSH membership or working towards professional accreditation is desirable
Skills
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
- Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture across the business
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
