Overview
We are seeking a professional Class 2 HGV Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating curtain sided / flatbed lorries to deliver goods efficiently across designated routes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a passion for commercial driving and delivering outstanding service. The position is paid and requires adherence to all safety and road regulations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV, primarily curtain sided lorries, ensuring compliance with all road safety laws and company policies
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, maintaining punctuality and professionalism at all times
- Secure loads properly on the truck to prevent movement during transit
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with loading and unloading goods where necessary, ensuring accuracy of deliveries
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with legal requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during transit
Qualifications
- Valid UK Category C (Class 2) HGV licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed lorries or similar vehicles
- Delivery driver experience preferred, demonstrating reliability and punctuality
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure load handling
- Ability to operate a truck safely and efficiently under various weather conditions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Good communication skills to liaise professionally with clients and team members
