Housing Adaptations Surveyor

Contract: Temporary – 3 Months+
Hours: 37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday
Rate: £30.00 - £35.00 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Adaptations Officer to oversee the delivery of housing adaptations and property alterations that enable disabled and vulnerable residents to live safely and independently in their homes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in housing, construction, surveying or property adaptations who has experience managing projects from referral through to completion. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors and residents to ensure adaptations are delivered efficiently, within budget and in line with relevant legislation and best practice.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage the delivery of housing adaptations and alterations for residential properties
- Assess Occupational Therapist referrals and determine the most appropriate adaptation solutions
- Carry out site visits, feasibility surveys and property inspections
- Prepare specifications and issue work orders to contractors
- Project manage adaptation works from initial referral through to completion
- Monitor contractor performance, inspect completed works and resolve defects
- Maintain accurate records of adaptation requests, work orders and servicing requirements
- Manage the adaptations budget, process invoices and monitor expenditure
- Liaise with residents, Occupational Therapists, contractors and internal stakeholders throughout the process
- Attend case conferences to determine whether adaptation or rehousing is the most appropriate solution
- Arrange servicing and repairs of specialist equipment where required
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation, health and safety requirements and organisational policies
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Experience managing property adaptation, construction or building maintenance projects
- Experience working directly with members of the public and providing excellent customer service
- Strong project and contractor management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to organise workloads and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong report writing and record-keeping skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel between sites
- Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject
- GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at Level 2 or above
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a Local Authority or Housing Association
- Knowledge of domestic property adaptations and accessibility works
- Knowledge of contract management and procurement processes
- Understanding of legislation relating to disabled adaptations
- Knowledge of contract law
- Experience within housing asset management or surveying
