Overview
Due to expansion, we are seeking Pastry Chefs/Bakers (and other artisan bakery roles) to join our friendly bakery team in Sawston, Cambridgshire.
The ideal candidates will have experience with Viennoiserie and other laminated doughs. Requiring a keen eye for detail and a creative flair, plus a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, in a successful growing business.
At Smalltown Bakery, we pride ourselves on producing very high quality Sourdough, Pastries and other sweet treats, to our own cafes and select wholesale customers.

Responsibilities
- Working within the team, helping to produce our range of laminated pastries for our own cafes and our wholesale customers.
- Help to create new exciting products alongside our very talented team.
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
Requirements
- Experience working in an artisan bakery producing Viennoiserie and/or Sourdough breads, is important, but a keen, driven trainee would also be considered.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
- Ability to work efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail.
- Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A passion for creating high-quality bakes that delight our customers.
- Culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not essential.
- An ability to muck in and help the team.
We start early!
Our day starts at 2.30am on the busiest days, 5 days a week over 7 days. The ability to commute to work is required. Hours can be varied to suit the right candidate but there will be plenty of early starts!
Level of pay is dependent on experience/skill.
