Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Line Leader to join our production team in Wellingborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional who enjoys leading teams, maintaining high standards, and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
As a Line Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring daily production plans are completed efficiently while maintaining food safety, quality, and health & safety standards. You will oversee line operations, coordinate team activities, and work closely with other departments to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily production plans in line with food safety and health & safety standards.
- Carry out pre-start checks and complete all relevant documentation.
- Report issues promptly to the Area Manager to minimise downtime.
- Organise and manage line operatives, including break allocation and workflow.
- Train team members across all aspects of their roles and maintain training records.
- Ensure sufficient skills coverage across the team for holidays and absences.
- Liaise with production departments to ensure materials are available when required.
- Monitor production performance against targets and implement improvement plans.
- Record downtime, analyse lost time reports, and take corrective action.
- Monitor product quality and work closely with Quality Assurance teams.
- Support new product launches and ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Manage team performance, including appraisals, return-to-work interviews, and disciplinary processes where required.
- Monitor waste levels and implement initiatives to reduce waste.
- Ensure all company health & safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Support risk assessments and accident reduction initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleaning within the production area.
- Lead production line changeovers and support machinery setup and cleaning.
- Drive continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a production or manufacturing leadership role.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Good level of spoken and written English.
- Good numerical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to quality, food safety, and health & safety standards.
What We Offer
- Starting pay rate of £12.95 per hour.
- Pay increase to £13.70 per hour after successful completion of 12 weeks' service.
