Role Summary
Position: Deputy Manager Children's Home
Location: Melksham
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £16.50 per hour (£34,320 basic salary based on 40 hours/week)
Sleep-in Allowance: £65 per sleep-in (typically 8–10 per month)
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Holds a Level 3 or 4 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
- Has at least 2 years' experience in a senior position within a children's residential setting.
- Understands safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and Children's Home Quality Standards.
- Has experience supporting young people with EBD, trauma, and challenging behaviours.
- Can confidently supervise staff, lead shifts, and make operational decisions.
- Is comfortable stepping into the Registered Manager's responsibilities when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise and support residential staff.
- Conduct supervisions, appraisals, and inductions.
- Delegate tasks and monitor performance.
- Promote a positive and effective team culture.
- Ensure care plans are implemented and regularly reviewed.
- Support young people in achieving positive outcomes.
- Maintain safeguarding standards and regulatory compliance.
- Manage challenging behaviour using agreed strategies.
- Oversee the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Participate in on-call duties.
- Work with external agencies, social workers, schools, and healthcare professionals.
