The Trust is recruiting a Specialist Grade doctor in Geriatric Medicine to join the established team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich. This post is designed for experienced clinicians with at least 12 years of clinical practice , including a minimum of 6 years at middle‑grade level or above in Geriatric Medicine . The successful candidate will join a dynamic department currently comprising eight substantive geriatricians , working collaboratively to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care for older adults, delivering comprehensive assessments across our service.
The post has been created to support and expand innovative models of care for frail older patients. The Trust operates a dedicated frailty pathway, including an Acute Frailty Unit (AFU) and a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service. These units provide rapid specialist assessment, early therapy involvement, and integrated discharge planning to reduce unnecessary admissions and improve patient flow.
To support professional development, the post holder will be offered a mentor from within the Trust, either from the geriatric medicine department or another specialty.

The post is full time (10 PAs) and based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich
A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and their Clinical or Divisional Director within three months of their commencement date.
The on-call rota is 1 in 10 evenings (4-8pm) and weekends 8am-8pm, covering frailty admissions. There is currently no overnight on-call commitment. The out of hours commitment equates to 1.5 PA. An afternoon off per week and an early finish are offered to compensate
for this and maintain 10 PAs.
For any additional work beyond this additional time off or remuneration would be offered.
The job plan will be divided into direct clinical care (DCC) 8.5 PA (including on call 1.5 PA, and administration 0.5PA) and supporting professional activities (SPA)1.5 PA.
This structure will be reviewed in the annual job planning process.
