- Female Support Worker required to support a delightful young adult who has a Learning Disability and Cerebral Palsy, living in Shropshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a difference to our client. She is aged 20 years, and lives in a self – contained annexe next door to her family. You will be responsible for providing all her care in her home environment and community. She has all her food, fluids, and medication via a PEG, she communicates using Makaton and requires some supervision to safely mobilise.
You need to be adventurous, mischievous, and a good communicator. You must be passionate about making a difference to a young person and have a high level of initiative and self-autonomy. We want the right person to join her support team. You will provide a high standard of care, therapy, and social opportunities for our client. She attends a local specialist college and enjoys accessing her community and taking part in family activities.
You will work as part of a team providing support, care and therapy for the client ensuring safety and physical wellbeing. The young adult has regular therapy, and our focus is to enable her to live the best life possible. We are looking for one support worker to join the existing team.
Contracted hours – 28 per week slotting into a set rota plus additional hours to cover leave. Additional hours are available during school holidays and when accompanying the client on holiday. Details of shifts available on request.
Weekends and School holidays: 8.15am – 8.15pm and 8.15pm – 8.15am sleeping nights.
Monday – Friday (term time): 3.45pm – 10.15pm and 10.15pm – 9.15am sleeping nights.
Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.
Rates of pay are:
- Weekdays: £15.50 rising to £16.00 per hour on completion of probationary period
- Weekends: £17.50 rising to £18.00 per hour on completion of probationary period
- Bank holidays: £21.50 per hour rising to £22.00 per hour on completion of probationary period
- Sleeping Nights weekdays: £13.50 per hour
- Sleeping Nights weekends: £15.50 per hour
- Holiday accompaniment: National Living Wage £12.71 per hour
The successful candidate will have a patient, warm and caring nature, confident in using IT such as email and electronic record keeping. A full driving licence is essential.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise, the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.
Experience with Makaton and/or PEG feeding are desirable qualities for this position as is water confidence and being physically fit.
