Real Skills Training Ltd is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Trainer / Assessor to support learners completing Residential Childcare apprenticeships and qualifications from Level 3 to Level 5.
This is a full-time hybrid role focused on managing a dedicated caseload of approximately 45 learners, with regular workplace visits mainly in the West Midlands area. We’re looking for someone based in or near Birmingham, or someone happy to travel there regularly. Traveling to other areas and Head Office will be reqiured throughout the year.

The role
You’ll be responsible for coaching, assessing and supporting learners working in Residential Childcare settings, helping them build strong portfolios, develop their professional practice and progress successfully through to achievement.
This role would suit someone who is confident, organised and self-motivated, with strong sector knowledge and a genuine passion for developing people working with children and young people.
Put simply, we’re looking for someone who knows Residential Childcare, understands the demands of the sector and can help learners achieve excellent results.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
- Manage a full caseload of approximately 45 Residential Childcare apprentices and learners.
- Visit learners in workplace settings, mainly around Birmingham
- Carry out observations, competency assessments and progress reviews.
- Provide clear coaching, feedback and action plans to support timely progress.
- Support learners with portfolio development and preparation for End Point Assessment.
- Build strong working relationships with employers, managers and workplace mentors.
- Deliver information, advice and guidance throughout the learner journey.
- Maintain accurate assessment, observation and progress records.
- Work in line with apprenticeship standards, awarding body requirements and internal quality processes.
- Take part in IQA, EQA and moderation activity.
- Complete risk assessments for new settings where required.
- Apply safeguarding, Prevent and safer recruitment principles confidently and professionally.
Desirable:
- CET Level 4.
- Experience delivering or assessing wider Early Years qualifications.
- Experience working across funded and commercial training provision.
Requirements
Experience:
- Teaching, training or assessing Residential Childcare: 1 year required.
Licence / certification:
- CAVA required.
- AET or equivalent required.
Work location: Hybrid remote, with regular travel to learner settings mainly around Birmingham.

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
