Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant for Nights to join our team at St. Anne's Nursing, a residential care home renowned for its exceptional standards of care. The Carer will be responsible for providing personalized support and assistance to our elderly residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for caring for others and a strong desire to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents.
Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist residents with their personal care routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while promoting their dignity and respecting their privacy.
Medication Management: Opportunity to develop skills in administering prescribed medications accurately, following established protocols, and maintain comprehensive medication records for each resident.
Daily Living Support: Provide assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation, feeding, mobility, and transferring, taking into account individual needs and preferences.
Emotional Support: Foster a supportive and empathetic environment for residents, actively listening to their concerns, offering companionship, and engaging in meaningful conversations to promote their emotional well-being.
Care Planning: Collaborate with the care team to develop personalized care plans for each resident, regularly reviewing and updating them as required.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including care plans, progress notes, incident reports, and any other relevant documentation as per the care home's policies and procedures.
Communication: Effectively communicate with residents, their families, and colleagues, ensuring the exchange of information is clear, respectful, and professional.
Health and Safety: Promote a safe and secure environment for residents by adhering to health and safety guidelines, identifying potential hazards, and promptly reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Activities and Engagement: Plan and facilitate social and recreational activities to encourage residents' participation and enhance their quality of life.
Continual Learning: Stay abreast of the latest developments in elderly care, attend relevant training sessions, and actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar care role, preferably in a residential care home or healthcare setting.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, their families, and colleagues.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach towards the elderly.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a care home environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
