ZEN Educate is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEN school in Morpeth from September 2026.
This is a full-time temporary supply role working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am - 3.30pm providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 3 learner with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the learner's educational progress, emotional wellbeing, and engagement within the school environment. The pupil may display challenging behaviours, therefore applicants must be confident, patient, and experienced in managing behaviours positively and consistently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Support the learner's academic, social, and emotional development.
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with the learner and school staff.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
- Experience managing or supporting challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
- A fully enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply and pay for one.
- Ability to provide a minimum of two years of professional references.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
