The day to day
We're looking for a proactive and detail orientated Accounts Payable (AP) Automation Assistant to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to support the transformation of our accounts payable function as we implement AI powered automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy and visibility across our finance processes.
Working closely with the Accounts Payable Manager, you'll support the end-to-end invoice to payment cycle with a focus on shifting manual data entry to automated workflows, ensuring high accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in financial operations.
You will:
- Manage accounts payable queries from employees, suppliers and stakeholders, providing timely and professional support
- Support the processing, reconciliation and maintenance of vendor accounts within Maconomy
- Assist with weekly payment runs, expense approvals, credit card reconciliations and vendor onboarding
- Support bank reconciliations and month-end activities, ensuring deadlines are met
- Monitor invoice workflows within Rossum, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently
- Review Rossum queues, resolve routine queries and escalate more complex issues where required
- Monitor AI reporting and confidence scores, helping to improve automation accuracy and efficiency
- Support fraud prevention activities by identifying anomalies, duplicate payments and unusual vendor activity
What will give you the edge
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts payable or administrative role would be beneficial
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related subject, or an AAT qualification (or studying towards one), would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers
- An interest in finance systems, automation and emerging technologies, including AI
- A good understanding of basic accounting principles, including VAT coding and the accounts payable cycle
- A willingness to learn, adapt and contribute to a fast-changing environment
