Behaviour Specialist - Havant
Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Specialist to join a specialist secondary school in Havant.
Our school provides education for boys aged 11–16 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our students also have additional learning needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and Dyslexia.
As a Behaviour Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping students develop positive behaviours, emotional regulation skills, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals, you will provide targeted support to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual plans.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage personal development.
- Support students during challenging situations using a calm and consistent approach.
- Monitor and record progress, contributing to reviews and support plans where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach.
- Experience within education, youth work, residential care, mental health support, or a similar setting would be advantageous.
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
