A welcoming and inclusive Primary school in the Forest of Dean is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team from Term 6, with the opportunity for the role to continue into the next academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who is patient, nurturing, and motivated to support children both academically and emotionally within the school environment.
In this role, you will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis, within small groups, or through classroom-based assistance depending on the needs of the pupils.
The school is looking for somebody who can build strong relationships, create a positive and calming presence within the classroom, and help pupils feel confident, understood, and supported throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils to access learning within the classroom
- Delivering targeted interventions and small group activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Working collaboratively with class teachers and SEND staff
- Encouraging pupil confidence, independence, and engagement
- Adapting communication and learning approaches to meet individual needs
- Helping create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
- Flexible, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong understanding of SEND needs within a Primary setting
- Positive and proactive attitude towards supporting children
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Passion for inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
- UK-based experience working with children is essential
